• For having completed 3 consecutive years of temporary residence: if you have had or already have any of the subcategories of temporary residence for 3 years continuously you can oobtain this category of permanent residence.

The most common subcategories of this residency are:

• Temporary residency for Costa Rican spouse: if you are married to a Costa Rican person you can obtain this category.
• Religious: religious missionaries are eligible for this category.
• Managers and executives: if you have a contract with a job and CCSS social security as a manager or as an executive you can obtain these categories having in mind that the MTSS does not include this position and function in the jobs NOT authorized for foreigners.
• Company representative (entrepreneur): those who have a company registered and established in Costa Rica can obtain this residency.
• Specialized self-employed and dependent employees.
• Interns, Scientists, Professionals.
• Rentista: those who have $60,000 USD in a financial entity in Costa Rica for a period of no less than 2 years can obtain this category.
• Investor: for this category an investment of not less than $150,000 USD is required.
